I’ve been working on the Levi jacket pattern – there are a lot of pieces; twenty all told and I have four to go, then I can make a sample and see if my adjustments are alright.
I’ve copied it onto Ram Board, pinning tissue paper onto fabric isn’t for me, it anything is wrong then I’ll just redo those pieces.
I had to stay offline for a whole day because a storm passed over and a bolt of lightning destroyed a tree in the garden, bits flew off in every direction…it actually exploded. I’ve never been close to lightning before nor do I want to be again.
No animals were hurt and it missed the house, car and shed. It knocked out the modem and I had to buy another.
Yoking. Please visit my site at william -sews.com After the success of the curved yoke for my block shirt I’ve made a few more. The top piece is the curved back yoke I used on the last shirt, the curve wasn’t deep enough so I’ve redrafted it; I think it will work much better. This was the curved yoke – not much of a curve at all. I also made a chevron front and back yoke. Now I have to dream up a few other things to do with the block pattern, pocket flaps or panels, anything goes – maybe an extreme western yoke. I am looking forward to the Levi jacket pattern arriving, it’s due in the next two days. Regards, Will.
I have finished my ‘Down on the farm’ shirt. I like the fabric, I thought it may be difficult to sew because it’s a loose weave but it was alright. It will be a great summer shirt because it’s so light. I was lazy and top stitched a few millimetres in from the edge – a bit 80’s perhaps but it’s a change from edge stitching (and so much easier). I sewed a rounded pocket this time instead of my favourite chevron style. I should have matched the pattern because I had enough fabric, maybe next shirt. I have the next two cut out and ready to go, I’m going to make both at the same time, that will be fun. Please visit my site; william-sews.com/ Keep well, keep safe, Regards, Will.
These blocks are some I made, but for various reasons, won't be using. They are nice enough, but perhaps not interesting enough to continue. T hat's my lot for today, Take care, Will.
